Restaurants in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, have teamed up for a charity drive to provide residents with food aid during Russia's military campaign in the country.
Kyiv chef Serhiy has changed his menu. He now bakes a traditional bread made from wheat flour called "palianytsia".
Ukrainians are mainly Orthodox Christians. In their beliefs, palianytsia symbolizes safety, affection and happiness. Bread and meals are distributed daily from noon to 15:00 to the elderly, some of whom donate their pensions to the military.
Palianytsia inspired catering businesses in Kyiv. In the ensuing crisis, a seafood restaurant chain, a leading poultry producer and a bakery teamed up to make their signature bread for locals.
A month ago, the Palianytsia Project opened its first restaurant offering free food to seniors. Now, it has six locations serving more than 5,000 people a day with hot meals. MSTelevision report
