United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for a ceasefire and restoration of peace in Ukraine following a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Zelensky in the Presidential Palace, Guterres said the UN is expanding its humanitarian aid in various shapes to Ukraine, including cash, food and medical supplies, and he expressed his appeals to end the conflict.
"This war must end, and peace must be established in line with the charter of the United Nations and international law," said Guterres.
Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to negotiate with Russia on the evacuation of civilians in the Azovstal plant in Mariupol and he is looking forward to Guterres' fruitful mediation on the matter. MS Television reporter by Charlie Zhong
