United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday visited the town of Borodyanka outside Kiev, which was heavily affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said on Twitter.
Guterres arrived in Ukraine on Wednesday for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, after visiting Moscow on Tuesday.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict must end and peace must be established in line with the charter of the United Nations and international law, Guterres said on Thursday.
Guterres told a news conference after the talks with Zelensky that the United Nations is increasing its aid to Ukraine, involving cash, food and medical supplies.
The UN is evacuating residents trapped on the Azovstal plant in the port city of Mariupol, Guterres noted.
He said Mariupol is a "crisis of crises" in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Thousands of residents remain trapped in the besieged city of Mariupol and they need a way out of the city. MS Television reporter by Charlie Zhong
