A new ferry service is connecting the Xisha Islands in south China's Hainan Province running three trips a week between Yongxing, Yongle and Zhaoshu Islands.
The service, aboard the Yinyu ferry, has been running since April 25 and is available to residents of the island who need to book their travel the day before they wish to sail.
"To better ensure transportation among these islands, we are using our resources to kick off a ferry service--the Yinyu between Yongxing and Yongle Island to provide convenience for residents, police and soldiers on the islands", said Cai Yang, a staff member of Sansha Tourism, Culture and Transportation Bureau.
Sansha City, on Yongxing, one of the Xisha Islands, was founded in July 2012.
The city, which administers the Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha Island Groups and surrounding waters, is looking to tourism as its main economic engine and has been developing air, sea and road links throughout the islands.
